Walter W. Chaput, production manager for General Motors Powertrain Div., Defiance (OH) Casting plant is retiring after 34 years with the automaker
After graduating from Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in metallurgical engineering, Chaput started his career at Defiance in 1970 as a college graduate in training. Over his career he held several positions in metallurgy and manufacturing, and was named chief metallurgist in June 1978.
In June 1989 he earned a M.S. in industrial administration from Kettering University. Chaput assumed his current responsibilities at production manager in February 1997.
