Robinson Foundry in Alexander City, AL, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection on January 30, 2006, citing a steel tariff and increased energy costs. The 60-year old plant will continue to produce castings for its customers, and there are no plans to eliminate any of the 180 jobs. "Several foundries in the past couple years had to resort to this and have successfully survived it," said Joe Robinson, chairman of the foundry.
"We hope this will give us the ability to regroup and emerge from Chapter 11 and continue to operate."
