Daniel Gordon, the 27-year-old former head energy trader at Merrill Lynch, pleaded guilty to charges he stole $43 million from the firm. The onetime whiz kid implicated superiors at Merrill in a scheme to falsify records of the firm's energy trading division. Gordon also settled a civil suit with the SEC alleging that Gordon aided Enron's (there is that name again) financial fraud by engaging in a risk-free energy trade designed to overstate Enron's 1999 reported income.
