The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan has entered judgements against Michigan resident John Daniel Lee and Panamanian firms Marquis Financial Management Systems Inc. and Marquis Group Inc. in a commodity pool fraud case, one of several cases initiated by the CFTC.

The court ordered payments to customers and penalties totaling more than $2.5 million. The orders stemmed from a CFTC complaint filed in October 2003 stating that the defendants made false representations to investors, misappropriated investor funds and failed to register with the CFTC.

The CFTC also has obtained a preliminary injunction in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Florida commodity trading firm United Investors Group Inc....
