SANTIAGO -- Pushed into a corner by Chile's weak job market, and jitters about the economic problems in neighboring Argentina, the government has opted jettison two of the main planks of its platform -labor and health care reform - in a bid to regain investor confidence. Government officials recognize the political cost of the decision, but argue that reforms which upset business interests are a luxury that Chile cannot currently afford.
