WASHINGTON -- El Salvador, a country that still conjures up visions of guerrilla warfare and US intervention, was rated as the most friendly nation for free market principles in Latin America in a recent report by the conservative Heritage Foundation.
The Washington-based think tank for each country assigned a score ranging from one to five in 10 categories, such as trade policy, tax burden, level of government intervention, monetary policy, foreign investment and others.
