David Hempleman-Adams has become the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in a hot-air balloon with an open wicker basket. His sleepless 83-hour crossing from Brunswick, Canada, to a field in Hambleton, Lancashire, was his second attempt. "I'd never have been able to live with myself if l hadn't given it another go," he said.
