Quicksilver Inc., based in Costa Mesa, California, reported earnings jumped 36.3 percent in the second quarter ended April 3 1, to $2.8 million, or 42 cents a share. Sales advanced 27.9 percent to $36.5 million from $28.5 million. The maker of licensed swimwear and casual wear said sales gains reflected good demand domestically and in Europe and the consolidation of the operations of the Raisin Co., which was acquired in November 1993.
The Burlingame, California-based The Gymboree Corp., reported sales jumped 45 percent in May to $11.2 million, with same-store sales ahead 10 percent. Year-to-date sales surged 47 percent to $50.6 million with same-store sales ahead 13 percent.
