Atlanta -- Dan River is taking the character out of its Barbie bedding -- literally.
If not for the small Barbie product label and "uniquely Barbie" packaging, Dan River's new Barbie Avenue brand bedding could be mistaken for trendy private-label patterns. The goal is to attract a new retailer and consumer base.
"The product offers opportunity to the retailer who hasn't played in licensing," said Dan Hammer, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Dan River's Home Fashions for Kids division.
