Perhaps the most variably defined category in the home accent industry, tabletop and tabletop accessories can range from decorative plates to serve ware, as well as pitchers, vases, glassware and barware.

Dinnerware, one component of tabletop, is purchased by the vast majority of U.S. consumers, according to a study conducted by the NPD Intelect Market Tracking and Riedel Marketing Group in 2002. Of households responding, 99% said they own dinnerware, and 20% had purchased it in the past year with an estimated 11% anticipating a future purchase.

Obviously a growing category, tabletop rang up sales of roughly $5 billion in 2000, according to Home Accents Today's 2000 Universe Study, an approximate 8% growth from the previous year. Tabletop continues...
