Newspapers usually have been flown into the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia, but now some Marquesans have started their own news publication called Toake Oa. The new publication was started with the help of Al Hester, director of the University of Georgia's James M. Cox, Jr. Center for International Mass Communication Training and Research. He shipped computers, cameras, and printers to Nuku Hiva island and sent teachers there to conduct workshops with the Polynesians.
