Charles Murray named Sun Chemical's U.K. leader

Ink World, July, 2004

Charles Murray, corporate vice president and managing director, Sun Chemical Europe, will now lead Sun Chemical businesses in the U.K. and Ireland incorporating news inks, liquid inks for packaging, publication gravure, heatset, sheetfed and WebXtras consumables.

He also retains responsibility for Sun Chemical Group operations in Africa and will continue his important role in co-coordinating news inks and publication gravure across Europe.

Mr. Murray's appointment comes as Richard Pettifor moves to take up a major Sun Chemical management role in the U.S. as corporate vice president, North American packaging inks. He also retains his responsibility for global security inks.

Following a 10-year packaging background with Courtaulds, Mr. Murray joined Sun Chemical in 1996 as managing director, Sun Chemical news inks, also in charge of the cold-set motherplant at Silvertown, East London. Later he added responsibility for the U.K. heatset and publication gravure businesses and was appointed group managing director. In 2000, he became responsible for Sun Chemical's Nordic region and in 2002 was appointed corporate vice president and group managing director.

"Charles has been a key contributor to our success in Europe, particularly in the publication ink market and I would like to congratulate him on his new wider role," said David Meldram, Sun Chemical's president for Europe.
