Purdue University's Department of Agronomy presents its Agronomic Achievement Award to Dr. Kevin Cavanaugh, Research Dir for Beck's Superior Hybrids. In recognition of his commitment to the profession of Agronomy, his leadership and contributions to the agricultural industry and his support of the department.

The nationwide Asian Soybean Rust team of University, Extension and government scientists and staff is honored by Agriculture Secretary Michael Johanns in the 59th Annual USDA Honor Awards Ceremony.

The soybean rust team, based out of the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, won a team award for "Enhancing Protection and Safety of the Nation's Agriculture and Food Supply"--specifically for advance planning, rapid response and recovery of a disaster that was averted by using science-based and technological strategies or addressing and mitigating risks for a potentially devastating plant disease, the Asian Soybean Rust.
