This is an engaging book that intricately weaves interpretations of Augustine, Foucault, and Merleau-Ponty together in order to argue for an agonistic, dialogical politics of difference. Coles's stated assumption is that our differences are fertile ground. Neither abstract individualism nor communitarianism takes advantage of these differences.
