A reexamination of Ian Budge and Richard Hofferbert's study of the relation between the US party programs and the federal government expenses revealed that the results of the earlier study can be easily replicated. The form in which it is present makes it difficult to evaluate its main hypothesis. The earlier study does not provide enough data to enable the calculation of standard errors or test statistics. The original results are presented in an improvised format, along with the correct standard errors.
