This collection of essays is a timely assessment of the economic reform process undertaken in most countries of the Middle East in the 1980s. While displaying a diversity of theoretical perspectives, it offers a handy summary of reforms, country by country, throughout virtually the entire region, excepting Israel and Lebanon, that had once belonged to the Ottoman Empire.
