Alvarez, Garrett and Lange (AGL) employed a model relating economic growth, unemployment and inflation to political and labor organization variables. They concluded in their study that conservative governments which allow the establishment of labor movements had stable economies. While a reexamination of their statistical anaylsis did suggest that economic growth in these countries were determined by political and organizational factors, AGL's conclusions regarding similar determinants of unemployment and inflation are still subject to scrutiny.
