Justices William J. Brennan and Antonin Scalia were members of the US Supreme Court during the Rehnquist Court who facilitated legal violence and repression. Instead of enhancing expressive liberties, their decisions curtailed the rights of individuals to express their political views and promoted violence to subjugate dissidents. Radical and deviant behavior was suppressed by norms established by the judiciary.
