Public sphere, postmodernism and polemic.

The argument in favor of a revised concept of the public sphere, wherein plurality and differences are preferred over consensus, is criticized as a thinly disguised polemic against critical theory, as it is neither decisive nor extensive. Such criticism is attributed to a close identification of public realm theory with Jurgen Habermas' polemical stance. This has led to a misunderstanding of the discussion meant to facilitate between public sphere and postmodernism.
