The exhibition 'Premises: Invested Spaces in Visual Arts, Architecture, and Design from France, 1958-1998,' focuses on the arts' ability to manipulate time and transition. However, no historical analysis is offered in the displays. The attempt to eliminate any hierarchy among the architectural and art installations through the use of semitransparent screens failed to achieve its goal. The screens reduced the discernibility of the images on slide projections. The only reminder of the exhibit's focus on French culture is some audio recordings heard in the background.
