H. Taylor Buckner's claims that most murders where a gun is used in Canada are the result of drug deals or bar fights is incorrect. Among homicides among strangers, acquaintances, or in a domestic setting, homicides in the home are the most common. The victims of these crimes are primarily women. The guns used in the home are usually legally owned, lending support to arguments against lawful gun ownership.
