Customer service may not be the first topic that springs to mind when considering enterprise asset management (EAM), but there is a tie between the two. The link is so important, believes EAM software supplier Indus International, that the company acquired a specific vendor to help users link back-end EAM processes with front-end concerns.

Finalized in March 2003, Indus purchased the Global Energy and Utilities Solutions business unit of SCT, which offers customer information management software. While the move initially targets the utilities market, Indus executives say it also puts Indus in a better position to address manufacturers' needs.
