SAS Institute, says company president and CEO Dr. James Goodnight, is known as a business intelligence (BI) software leader, but he adds, "we intend to play very largely in the supply chain space" via deep trend analysis in areas including supplier, demand, and quality management. An enhanced demand management module, High Performance Forecasting, is part of SAS's latest product lineup.

Goodnight says it's aimed at consumer goods manufacturers, and allows users to crunch, "literally millions of predictions over hundreds of different stores, or locations, or products in a matter of minutes."
