Thin client's new 2.6 kernel runs faster Linux.(This month: Linux in the enterprise)

MSI, October, 2004

The Wyse Winterm 5150SE, a thin client running on an AMD Geode GX processor and the Wyse Linux V6 operating system, is available in the fourth quarter of this year. The 5150SE is said to be the only thin-client device based on the latest Linux kernel, 2.6. Geared toward advancing Linux to the desktop and aimed at midtier enterprises, the system comes with a free copy of Altiris remote management software.

Built upon AMD's x86 architecture, the Geode processor eases implementation application support, and peripheral support for Linux thin clients. The system offers free seating capabilities, enabling users to log in to different clients without losing their configuration, and modular design for adding or removing features as necessary. www.wyse.com
