Micron Technology Inc., Boise, Idaho, recently introduced two CIF-resolution (352 X 288 pixel) CMOS image sensors, a camera system-on-a-chip (SoC), and a stand-alone unit. These ultralow-power, low-cost CMOS image sensors target mobile devices such cell phones, smart phone and PDAs. Both products program through a simple, two-wire serial host interface, have a 1/2-in optical format, an on-chip eight-bit analog-to-digital converter, and a maximum data rate of 30 frames/sec (progressive scan for high-quality video).
