Ohio State University researchers are developing eyeglasses with built-in computer monitors as an alternative to reading text from a computer screen. Images displayed by a near-eye device appear to be much farther, up to 6 ft away, from the viewer than an image on a conventional computer monitor.

This makes for easier viewing, says James Sheedy, OSU associate professor of optometry. "Traditional displays are constrained by their physical size and are usually about 20 to 30-in, from the eyes," he said. Sheedy predicts near-eye displays ...
