The CEDIA home theater dealer may be the perfect group for manufacturers to pitch their high definition products to, but aside from high-def ready monitors and projectors (which describes nearly every display device shown at the Expo), the CEDIA Expo was not the place to go looking for news on the high definition television front.

Several manufacturers, including Zenith, Mitsubishi, Samsung and Panasonic showed, and in some cases demonstrated, set-top-boxes with ATSC off-air tuners and DirecTV HD compatibility. But none of the products seemed any closer to shipping than they did back at the Consumer Electronic Show in January. JVC mentioned that it would soon market an Echostar HD box, but the company wasn't making much of a fuss over it.
