Altadis U.S.A., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and the Montecristo Relief Organization, a charitable organization founded in 1998, have announced that the combined goal of raising $1 million for the American Red Cross to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina has been surpassed.
In the immediate aftermath of the storm, Altadis U.S.A. pledged up to $500,000 to the American Red Cross, of which $100,000 was given immediately. In addition, the company offered to match up to $200,000 in donations from its employees, consumers, retailers, distributors and vendors. That figure was, in fact, exceeded.
