The publication of the National Standards For Dance Education in March 1994 produced a new level of excitement and hope among dance educators.(1) The opportunity had arrived to foster new growth in the quantity and quality of dance education across the country. The National Dance Association (NDA) participated as an equal partner with other arts education organizations in writing the standards and viewed the collaboration as a means of forming a strong alliance with visual art, music, and theatre.
