The title of my report, The Quiet Evolution: Changing the Face of Arts Education, was intended to convey the idea that many of the advancements pertaining to discipline-based art education (DBAE) between 1988 and 1996 were not generally known within arts education circles. The individuals who were "changing the face of arts education" were too busy to chronicle their achievements. I am pleased that now, through the report and through this symposium, others can join in the discussions that have contributed so much to the educational change process.
