Arts education in the twenty-first century will be shaped to a great extent by the larger forces that continuously shape education itself. Education is uniquely susceptible to change resulting from political, social, economic, and technological developments. Therefore, instead of trying to project what arts education will look like at the end of the century on the basis of current trends, we should formulate a vision of what we want it to look like and then work to make that vision a reality.
