When I was a youngster, there was a joke that there were only two certainties in life: death and taxes. Education today presents two others: accountability and assessment. Although assessment seems to have overwhelmed and consumed us, we should recognize that there are models that are sound, and that the assessment process, when done correctly, is beneficial.
