New company 2d3, created by Oxford Metrics and headed by former Avid London development head Chris Steele, makes its first appearance at SIGGRAPH with a fully automated camera calibration and tracking system. Targeted at film and television effects, games development, and industrial design applications, 2d3's technology allows artists to derive complex camera tracks and calibration data from film or video material, without the need for manual tracking input.
