Singapore Press Holdings' new television subsidiary, SPH MediaWorks, has entered Asia's regional TV production mainstream with a multi-million dollar TV production joint venture with Hong Kong-listed Star East Holdings Limited (SEH).
The joint venture will produce between 400 and 600 hours of Chinese-language TV programming a year. The programming will form the backbone of Chinese-language Channel U, which is one of MediaWorks' two new terrestrial TV channels. The second channel is the English-language TV Works. Both channels are scheduled to launch in May 2001.
