Michelle Guthrie has been chosen to replace James Murdoch as head of News Corp's Hong Kong based STAR Group. Currently the group's executive vice president for regional distribution and business development, Guthrie was tipped to be in the running for the top job as early as October.
General speculation, however, focused more heavily on News Corp/STAR's more high-profile country heads--including Foxtel's Kim Williams, STAR India's Peter Mukherjea and STAR's China boss Jamie Davis--as possible contenders.
