Popular 1990s anime Sailor Moon has been produced as a drama and is being aired by Tokyo Broadcasting Systems and its 26 affiliates every Saturday at 7.30 am. The drama version was produced by CBS, a TBS affiliate in Nagoya, with five girls picked in an audition of nearly 1,000 applicants. The original anime, based on a comic strip carried by a Kodansha magazine Nakayoshi in 1991, was made into an animation series of over 200 episodes by Toei Animation and carried by TV Asahi and its affiliates between 1992 and 1997, and later exported successfully worldwide.
