When the opening sequence of a movie flashes onto the cinema screen--the name of the movie, the stars, and the key creative and production talents behind the film--a moviegoer's expectations heighten and the excitement builds.
In Mission Impossible II, we see fire and explosion and the hard bold typeface of the movie title and we know to expect an action-packed film. In The Others, the dark, eerie tone of the fire is set by the flickering light that follows an ink sketch of a long staircase and two children hidden in the shadows.
