When Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) broke out in Asia last year, the outbreak, at its height in April and May, decimated businesses across industries and throughout the region.

One event that was heavily impacted was BroadcastAsia 2003. Scheduled to be held mid June, fears that the outbreak would not have run its course by the show dates, as well as calls for a cancellation by exhibitors prompted organisers, Singapore Exhibition Services, to call the exhibition and conference off.
