Television broadcasters and members from the movie industry and intellectual property community of the city have called for more government action against pirated viewing of television programmes, demanding for legislative sanctions against violators. They also called on legislators to support an amendment to the Broadcasting (Amendment) Bill 2003, sponsored by legislator Ma Fung Kwok, that seeks to deter individuals from purchasing and using unauthorised decoders for pirated viewing.
