Hong Kong: Hong Kong's dominant free-TV station, Television Broadcast Ltd (TVB), has secured long-awaited clearance from China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) to land its two channels in nine cities in the Pearl River Delta region. The two channels, TVB Jade and TVB Pearl, have been unofficially distributed in Southern China for years.
The new agreement gives TVB legal access to about five million households. Local reports said TVB would earn at least US$6.5 million a year as a result of the new licence, issued on September 2. TVB did not confirm the ...
