I'm sure we've all noticed that at the Oscars and Emmys, it's the performance, best picture, best director awards that are the most highly anticipated. Editing, music, special effects, even animation get their day, of course, just not in as big a way.
The broadcast of these awards are catered for the regular consumer viewer so they must be tailored to the interest of this particular market. But for the industry, every award from Best Editing to Best Special Effects must mean as much as Best Actress or Best Director.
