Billed as the first English romantic comedy movie to come out of the island-state, Leap of Love centers on the quest of its lady protagonist for the man she believes to be her destined partner. She uses the Irish leap year tradition that when a woman proposes to a man on a leap day, he cannot refuse, to broach the big question.

Alas, her object of desire is already taken, but she nevertheless pursues the relationship con amore, believing and hoping. Thus begins a tumultuous love affair with the lovebirds meeting only once every leap year.
