Outside of our industry the term "Colorist" is usually associated with hairdressers, but is also used in fields as diverse as painting, comics, carpentry, photography and music. Within our industry almost everyone relates the profession to the telecine process, even though a growing number of colorists only work from tape or data. Film is far from dead, but nowadays it is often scanned first and color enhanced later, which potentially makes the process more efficient and the results better quality.
