The announcement of High Definition (HD) TV trials in Singapore, in Hong Kong, and the issuance of licenses in China have prompted a flurry of interest in the format. Suddenly HD channels are ready to roll-out; HD programming initiatives are being embarked upon; and co-production agreements are being signed--in the rush to ride the wave of publicity.
May 31st saw Singapore's Media Development Authority (MDA) herald HDTV trials on both MediaCorp terrestrial and StarHub CableTV in the island-state. It also opened the floodgates for a slew of HDTV-related announcements.
