Asia Pacific Rail, January, 2002
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has ordered a new speed enforcement system from Alcatel Transport Automation Solutions (TAS) to be implemented across the whole metro. The contract, worth EUR19m (US$16.5m), brings the total of new orders for TAS to EUR520m (US$451m), some 20% up on 2000. The new system, based on the Alcatel 6531 SelTrac system, will replace TTC's current Grade Timing method of speed enforcement.
It will go into revenue service in three phases; completion of all three lines is slated for 2005.
