Megalith-building, stone transport and territorial markers; evidence from Vale de Rodrigo, Evora, south Portugal.

The megalithic monument builders used stones from as far away as 20 km. from the sites of the barrows. The rocks of Vale de Rodrigo in southern Portugal were hauled from as much as 10 km. away. The locations of the sources also seem to be oriented to the burial site. The distance and the orientation of the rock sources as well as the choice of rock all point to the possibility of construction ritual connected with megalith monument building.
A further contribution concerning the moving of the great stones used in megalith-building in later prehistoric Europe.
