Making Representations: Museums in the Post-Colonial Era. (book reviews)

I wanted to say that these two volumes define new paradigms for archaeology in museums but it is not so. They hint at a changing environment, provide many examples of positive responses to that environment, but fail to provide the necessary summations that might enable all of us to engage in the discourse.

This is less of a criticism of the McManus edited volume which quite clearly aims to provide case-studies of new and interesting approaches without strait-jacketing them into a unified philosophical approach. Some of them, of course, turn out to be not very new or interesting. ...
