Web pages for schools and libraries seem to be in vogue these days. Let's see what that means for the students, for library patrons, for a school's network resources, and for staff members who must provide the material for those Web sites.

As I travel around the Internet, I find that more and more schools and libraries have a Web presence. Some are "plain vanilla" (just the basics); for example, the site has a photo of the school, the school handbook, staff phone directory, etc. Some schools have a very elaborate Web presence (e.g., calendar of daily/monthly events, each teacher posts his/her daily/weekly homework assignments, etc.). Some schools post pictures of student doing all sorts of school-related activities. There are even virtual schools cropping...
