Sud-Chemie wins environmental award.(United States)(Brief Article)

Sud-Chemie has been presented with the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge award by the US Environmental, Protection Agency (EPA). Sud-Chemie received the award for developing a process for manufacturing solid catalysts that use 16-20 times less water than traditional processes, without releasing nitrates into the environment. The process involves only two steps to form an oxide precursor from metal raw material while previous catalyst-producing processes have needed four steps. In addition, the process does not produce nitrates as a by-product of the catalyst-making process.
