More than 30 million Americans aged 15 to 54 suffer from some type of anxiety disorder--roughly half from fear of flying. In traditional treatments, the therapist spends several sessions familiarizing the patient with a real airplane. Only when the patient feels comfortable being on a stationary aircraft is an actual flight attempted.
